Getting Started

SmartBite Balance is a personalized nutrition and activity guidance app. It helps you understand your daily caloric needs, macronutrient targets (protein, fats, carbohydrates), and water intake — based on the information you provide about yourself.

To get started:

  1. Download SmartBite Balance from the Apple App Store
  2. Open the app and enter your basic information (age, sex, height, weight, activity level)
  3. Optionally add any health conditions you’d like the app to factor in
  4. Review your personalized daily targets

No account creation, email signup, or login is required. Everything stays private on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SmartBite Balance collect my personal data?

No. SmartBite Balance does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact information. Everything you enter into the app stays on your device. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

How does sync work between my iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch?

SmartBite Balance uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit private database) to sync your data between your Apple devices. Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account — not on any remote server we operate — and we have no access to it. To enable sync, make sure you’re signed into iCloud and that iCloud is enabled for SmartBite Balance in your device settings.

How do I disable iCloud sync?

Go to your device’s Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud, find SmartBite Balance, and toggle it off. Your existing data will remain on the device but will no longer sync to your other Apple devices.

How do I delete all my data?

Simply uninstall the app. All locally stored data will be removed. If you had iCloud sync enabled, you can also delete your SmartBite Balance iCloud data through Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.

What is SmartBite Pro?

SmartBite Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features within the app. Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple — we never see your payment information or Apple ID.

How do I cancel my SmartBite Pro subscription?

To cancel, manage, or request a refund:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find SmartBite Pro and tap Cancel Subscription

Is SmartBite Balance medical advice?

No. SmartBite Balance provides general nutrition and activity guidance based on widely accepted scientific formulas. It is not a medical device or a substitute for professional healthcare. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of eating disorders, or take prescription medications, please consult a qualified healthcare provider before making dietary or exercise changes based on the app’s recommendations.

The app is calculating something that doesn’t seem right. What should I do?

The calculations in SmartBite Balance are based on average population data and standard scientific formulas (such as the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for basal metabolic rate). They may not perfectly reflect your individual metabolism, body composition, or health situation. Use the recommendations as a starting point, and adjust based on how your body responds. If something seems significantly off, please contact us with details and we’ll look into it.

Can I use SmartBite Balance without an Apple Watch?

Yes. SmartBite Balance works fully on iPhone and iPad. The Apple Watch app is an optional companion that adds quick-access features and step tracking, but it’s not required.

What permissions does the app ask for, and why?

  • Motion & Fitness / HealthKit: to read your step count and activity data so the app can include movement in its calculations
  • Notifications: to send you reminders and motivational messages
  • iCloud: to sync your data between your Apple devices

You can grant or deny each permission individually in your device settings. Denying permissions may limit some features but will not prevent you from using the core app.
