Introduction
SmartBite Balance (“SmartBite”, “the app”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app handles your data.
This Privacy Policy explains what information SmartBite Balance processes, how it is used, and the measures in place to keep it private. By downloading and using SmartBite Balance, you agree to the practices described below.
The short version: SmartBite Balance does not collect your personal data. The app does not have user accounts, does not ask for your name or email, and does not store any of your information on remote servers. Everything you enter into the app stays on your device — and, if you choose, syncs privately through your own Apple iCloud account between your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. We never see it.
1. Information the App Processes
SmartBite Balance does not collect personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or precise location data. The information processed by the app is strictly limited to what is needed for its core functionality:
Health and lifestyle information you choose to provide:
- Age
- Sex
- Height and weight
- General health conditions (optional)
- Activity level and exercise habits
- Daily step count and movement data
This information is used only to calculate your personalized Daily Caloric Intake (DCI), macronutrient targets (protein, fats, carbohydrates), and water intake recommendations.
Usage information processed locally:
- The number of days you have opened the app, used to provide motivational feedback and personalized encouragement within the app
Subscription status (SmartBite Pro):
- If you subscribe to SmartBite Pro, the app receives an anonymous subscription status flag from Apple’s App Store to unlock premium features. We do not receive your payment details, billing address, Apple ID, or any other identifying information. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
On your device. All information you enter into SmartBite Balance is stored locally within the app’s private storage on your device. It is not transmitted to any remote server operated by us, and we do not have access to it.
Optional iCloud sync across your Apple devices. SmartBite Balance supports synchronization between your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch using Apple’s CloudKit private database. If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud enabled for SmartBite Balance, your app data is synced through your own personal iCloud account so you can access it across your Apple devices.
It is important to understand what this means:
- The data is synced through Apple’s infrastructure, not through any server we operate
- The data is stored in your own private iCloud account, not in any account we control
- We have no access to data stored in your private iCloud database — it is encrypted and accessible only to you
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device’s Settings → iCloud → SmartBite Balance
- Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy
If you are not signed into iCloud or have iCloud sync disabled, your data remains only on the individual device where you entered it.
3. What We Do NOT Do
To be completely clear, SmartBite Balance does not:
- Collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Require you to create an account or log in
- Use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Mixpanel)
- Use third-party advertising networks or display ads
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Sell, rent, or share your information with anyone
- Store your data on remote servers
- Use your data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models
- Receive any payment information when you subscribe to SmartBite Pro
4. Device Permissions
SmartBite Balance may request the following permissions from your device. You can grant or deny each one individually, and you can change your choices at any time in your device settings.
- Motion & Fitness / HealthKit: To read step count and activity data so the app can factor your movement into its calculations. This data is read directly from your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
- Notifications: To send you reminders and motivational messages. You can turn these off at any time.
- iCloud: To sync your data between your Apple devices, as described in Section 2.
Denying any of these permissions will not prevent you from using the core features of the app, but some functionality may be limited.
5. Subscription and Payments (SmartBite Pro)
SmartBite Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features. All payments and subscription management are handled by Apple through the App Store.
- We do not collect, process, or store any payment information
- We do not have access to your Apple ID, billing address, or payment method
- The app only receives an anonymous flag from Apple confirming whether your subscription is active

- To manage, cancel, or request a refund for your subscription, visit your device’s Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, or contact Apple Support
6. Children’s Privacy
SmartBite Balance is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly process data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, you can simply uninstall it to remove any locally stored data — since nothing is stored on remote servers, no further action is needed on our end.
7. Health Disclaimer
SmartBite Balance provides general nutrition and activity guidance based on widely accepted scientific formulas (such as those used to estimate basal metabolic rate and daily energy needs). It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or substitute for professional healthcare.
You should always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet, exercise routine, or health regimen — especially if you:
- Have a pre-existing medical condition (such as diabetes, kidney disease, or heart disease)
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a history of eating disorders
- Are taking prescription medications
- Are recovering from surgery or illness
The recommendations provided by SmartBite Balance are averages based on general population data and may not accurately reflect your individual needs. Use them as a starting point, not a definitive answer.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Because SmartBite Balance does not collect personal data on remote servers, most traditional data rights (access, export, deletion requests) are not applicable in the usual sense — there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. However:
- To delete your data: Uninstall the app, or go to your device settings and clear the app’s data. If iCloud sync is enabled, you can also delete the app’s iCloud data through your iCloud settings.
- To stop iCloud sync: Disable iCloud sync for SmartBite Balance in your device’s Settings → iCloud.
- To unsubscribe from SmartBite Pro: Manage your subscription through your Apple ID settings.

If you are a resident of Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you retain all rights granted by those laws — but in practice, those rights primarily concern data held on remote servers, and we hold none of your personal data.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or legal requirements. The most current version will always be available on this page, and the “Last updated” date will reflect any changes. For significant changes, we will note them prominently within the app or on this page.
